Does anyone have a clever way of getting a hood that is frozen shut to open besides a heat gun?

Maybe get a bucket of hot water, and then soak some towels in it and lay them on the hood?

Car wash?
or start the engine and let it heat up for a while (if the car actually starts, which might not be the case since you need to open the hood).

How frozen? Just the latch, or a sheet of ice? If it's the latch, spray it with something (WD-40, silicone, PBlaster, etc) and it should melt the ice and free it up.
Or you could use a crowbar.

Heat the car, dump some hot water on it and drive around.

Washer fluid in a spray bottle.

Enough that it won't pop open enough to use the latch.

I need to open the hood because the battery is dead and I can't start it. I do like the hot water idea though.

My cherokee that is in a snowbank in Michigan i just smacked the hood and then jumped on it to break all the ice off it.

I don't really want to jump on it. :/

I would suggest a flamethrower, but that's probably not a good suggestion.

You usually see E classes though. Not these as much.
